Paris, September 8th, 2011 – ATEME, the acknowledged leader in broadcast quality video compression systems, will be demonstrating its latest innovations for Contribution and Multi Screen delivery at IBC (hall1, Booth F70) in Amsterdam, until September 13, 2011
Broadcast Contribution
Once again this year visitors of the ATEME booth will experience hands on demonstration of various MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 compression formats with the ability of doing side by side comparisons on a split screen, such as 4:2:0 versus 4:2:2 and 8-bit color depth versus 10-bit. No doubt the AVC-I format will draw a lot of attention; this intra compression profile of the MPEG-4 standard – fully interoperable – is now supported in ATEME products and offers “visual transparency” when used above 100 Mbps, with no compression artifact visible to the human eye.
The Kyrion CM3102 encoder with built in DVB-S / DVB-S2 satellite modulation will be on display, as well as the CM4101model processing 1080P50 content for decoding on the DR8400 receiver.
Kyrion CM4101 encoders will be also running in two SNG trucks parked on the Eutelsat space of the outside Exhibiton Area (OE 112). Uplinked on the Ka Band, the MPEG-4 streams will be broadcasted and received on DR8400 decoders on the Eutelsat stand in Hall 1.D59.
Multi-Screen Delivery
The TITAN software transcoding platform takes the center stage of ATEME’s multi-screen delivery demonstrations at IBC. Designed for mass content workflows and highly scalable, TITAN produces files for Video On Demand, ‘classic’ live transport streams and adaptive streaming formats compliant with Apple HLS or Microsoft Smooth Streaming protocols for IPTV and OTT. TITAN revolutionizes content delivery by allowing service operators to repurpose content for numerous viewing devices such as smartphones, PCs or TVs while maintaining pristine video quality.
Demonstrations will also include the new Smartrate SR1000 rate allocator which has been designed for premium quality VBR multi-channel distribution, allowing an optimal bandwidth allocation for each service in the line-up. ATEME’s system engineering team delivers the SR1000 integrated with Kyrion multi-format encoders – SD or HD, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 – and the MC3100 multiplexer, all as part of turnkey video head-ends for cable, satellite and terrestrial distribution.
