PARIS, MIAMI, SINGAPORE, APRIL 18, 2016, NAB SHOW, BOOTH SU4402 – ATEME today announced the availability of its new high video quality and high density transcoding solution based on the Intel® Visual Compute Accelerator (Intel® VCA) card, first demonstrated at Mobile World Congress in February. This new solution brings together the power of ATEME’s TITAN Live video compression platform with the integrated CPU and graphics processing capabilities of the Intel® VCA — enabling ATEME to increase channel density by more than 10X over platforms without Intel graphics capabilities, while maintaining high video quality. The result is a significant reduction in total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) per transcode channel.
Based on the ATEME fifth generation STREAM© compression engine, this future-proof solution utilizes the full capabilities of Intel’s technology with support for H.264 (AVC) and H.265 (HEVC), supporting resolutions up to 4K-UHD.
“This solution redefines the broadcast industry density standard. It is a complete live and file video headend in a box, offering significant OPEX and CAPEX savings,” said Michel Artières, CEO at ATEME. “In addition to headend in a box and faster than real time on-premises cloud file processing, we see our customers using this solution for new applications, such as just-in-time-transcoding (JITT) and edge transcoding.”
Al Diaz, vice president of Intel’s Data Center Group and general manager of the Product Collaboration and Systems Division, said: “The Intel® Visual Compute Accelerator enables customers to combine the graphics processing power of the Intel® Xeon® processor E3 family with Intel® Xeon® processor E5 family-based servers for high-performance, scalable video transcoding solutions. Utilizing this with ATEME’s platform enables high-quality, high-density media transcode solutions, while reducing both CAPEX and OPEX.”
Intel is a trademark of Intel Corporation in the U.S. and/or other countries.
