ATEME announced today that Brendon Mills, a veteran IP video executive and entrepreneur has joined the company as a Senior Advisor. “ATEME has just completed a record-breaking year in 2010 in revenue and in reaching financial profitability”, said Michel Artières, President and CEO of ATEME. “As we look to 2011, Brendon’s experience as a former founder/CEO and video technology visionary will help us expand into the video transcoding market and push further into the US video technology market.”
ATEME offers award-winning video solutions across three video markets including broadcast contribution encoding, Distribution Video head-ends, and most recently in multi-screen video transcoding for file and live-based content. At the upcoming MWC 2011 trade show in Barcelona, ATEME is launching the second generation of the TITAN Livetranscoding solution to yield operational efficiencies for Converged Media architectures. TITAN is a new generation high-density platform tailored for mass file-based and live content production workflows. As a hardware companion to the widely deployed KFE software TITAN can transcode mezzanine files or MPEG-2 TS live streams into highly efficient H.264 or MPEG-2 files for multi-screen VOD or streams to address hybrid IP set-top-boxes in cable environments for Over-The-Top TV delivery.
“As I became acquainted with ATEME, the differentiator that impressed me most from the company was the industry-leading video quality of the home-grown video codec technology. ATEME routinely scores at the top of customer and industry video quality comparisons,” said Brendon Mills.
A serial entrepreneur in the communications technology market, Mills joins ATEME from RGB Networks. In June, 2010 RGB Networks merged with mobile IP video supplier RipCode, a company Mills founded and led as President and CEO. RipCode, a venture-backed video transcoding solution company, sold to customers such as MySpace Mobile, Thomson Reuters, as well as U.S. defense contracts through Harris Corporation and Lockheed Martin. Prior to founding RipCode in 2005, Mills served as founder, CEO and president of GENBAND, Inc. From GENBAND’s inception in 1999, Mills led the company’s pioneering efforts in the packet voice equipment industry. During his five years at GENBAND, Mills raised over $180 million in private capital, developed an award-winning VoIP gateway, and secured eight U.S. patents and a major win at SBC Communications alongside partner Alcatel. Mills currently serves as Chairman of the Video Convergence Forum and holds a B.A. degree from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri.
