a few words from APSAT 2014
Thanks to our presence in the region and slowly but steadily growing business in Indonesia, ATEME is now a trusted and respected brand. We have been cordially invited and honored to take up a speaking slot as well as to be a panelist in the annual conference of theIndonesian Satellite Association, APSAT 2014 which objective is to promote the satellite industry and foster national and international collaboration. This is the 13th year in a row this conference has been held successfully and the 2014 conference focused on “The New Emerging Models in Satellite Business”.
Abdul Haleem, our APAC Pre Sales Manager was representing ATEME in this forum and presenting a paper on HEVC. He was a speaker in session two of the conference which discussed Challenges Facing the DTH Services Market & Competitiveness Strategy of the DTH Satellite TV Industry. Abdul’s co-panelists on the same session were the top executives from Indonesian pay TV operators, satellite providers, telco operators and industry experts across the globe.
Attendees discussed the question of how platform operators and DTH providers should differentiate themselves to attract potential customers. What business model should they develop in this growing market where new players are increasingly present? They were discussing strategies that should be implemented to retain current customers and attract new ones.
Ideas were exchanged about the characteristics and specifics of the Asia-Pacific market where the sum of television owning homes and pay-television subscribers outnumbers North-Americas by five to one. Everybody agreed that the market opportunities for DTH in the region is huge, however DTH operators need to be sure to offer services to match customer needs and ensure profitability.
As the sole video subject matter expert not only in this particular session but the whole conference ATEME drew much attention to our cutting edge video technologies and our leadership in HEVC. A recent success in Roland Garros 4K transmission and EBU endorsement of our Encoding and Decoding solutions for the FIFA WORLD CUP 4K transmission was a hot topic among the delegates and participants. As for the HEVC, it is seen by the industry as the future for DTH.
