Just three weeks after wrapping up the NAB Show in Las Vegas, ATEME was in Los Angeles for the annual gathering of cable operators from around the world.
- Primarily a US event sponsored by the National Cable Television Association, it does attract a large number of international attendees. ATEME exhibited as part of the CableNet pavilion organized byCableLabs and was the hub of advanced digital technology at the show.
- In addition to productive visits and meetings with cable operators and other MVPD (multi-channel video program distributor) companies, several cable programmers stopped by to see the latest ATEME HEVC and AVC compression technology and our excitingLiveSphere 360-degree immersive video experience. ATEME’s Director of Applications Engineering for the Americas, Gustavo Marra, and I also presented LiveSphere as part of the Imagine Park demonstration stage which showcased the future of television.
- 4K is starting to garner some interest in the US cable community, and ATEME’s involvement with Homechoice of Korea for the launch of the world’s first dedicated 4K channel generated a lot of discussion and interest at the show.
The Cable Show rotates venues each year, and next year the show will be in Chicago in early May – we hope to see everyone there!
