A few words from one of the premier events for the television and radio industry in the Asia-Pacific by Femin John
The Asia Broadcasting Union Digital Broadcasting Symposium 2014 (ABU DBS2014) was held from March 4th to 7th in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Representatives from all major broadcasters in the region had gathered for the 4 days of conferences and workshops to discuss about changes in media landscape and new challenges.
This year ABU’s Digital Broadcasting Symposium addressed how broadcasters could embrace latest developments in technology and how they can leverage these developments to increase quality of experience to their customers.
Being a significant contributor to the HEVC/ H.265 standards, ATEME was invited to speak at the event on new systems and developments in compression standards.
We gave the speech at the first technical session of the event about HEVC/H.265, which was by the way the main topic of this year Symposium.
Our speech focused on the standardization process and the compression performance of HEVC/H.265 and ATEMEs role of being a major contributor in this field. More than 1,200 people visited this year’s ABU Digital and ATEME was well represented at the Symposium by the APAC team.
