NFB/ONF deploys TITAN in file based multi-platform OTT delivery workflow

September 26, 2011, Montréal – The National Film Board of Canada, Canada’s twelve-time Academy Award-winning public film producer and distributor, and ATEME, a world leading provider of video compression solutions, have announced a partnership to build an innovative multi-screen delivery workflow around ATEME’s TITAN video processing platform.

“With the proliferation of new digital platforms for watching and sharing films, NFB is working to bring its rich collection of documentaries, animation and interactive productions to audiences everywhere, on any device,” explains Luisa Frate, Director General, CFO, COO, CTO at NFB. “Our cooperation with ATEME covers a wide range of target devices and adaptive delivery formats. We’ve joined forces to design software for transcoding files and streams that fully comply with both industry formats and our high standards for content integrity. What’s more, we’re building in an operational scalability that will ensure these solutions are compatible with all future requirements.”

Michel Artières, CEO of ATEME, commented: “The partnership with the NFB gives us exposure to an incredibly diversified catalogue of content, exactly the type of challenge that stimulates our research on video compression efficiency to deliver the best possible quality on any device. Such diversity, combined with the complexity and scale of the NFB operations, makes this partnership a truly rewarding experience for our teams.”

Mrs. Dutrisac, Head of Research & Development at the NFB will present NFB’ new multi-screen delivery workflow in detail at the SMPTE Fall conference in Hollywood, CA on October 26, 2011.
